After the time in which I completed my sculpture vessel in-progress blog post, I have since been able to create a lid to my teapot by using one of Ms. Sudkamp's pottery wheels during class. This lid has since been left alone to dry out, then "shaved down" with a ribbon tool in order to make sure that the lid fits the teapot perfectly, & then fired for a first time, along with the actual teapot. The thing that I found to be the most successful about the process of creating my sculpture, along with the finalized sculpture itself, was the fact of how Ms. Sudkamp allowed me to use the wheel to create my sculpture, as she noticed that I had a natural "hand" for sculpting a teapot, which was surprising to her, as I was able to successfully create a teapot during my first experience with sculpture. Since Ms. Sudkamp allowed me to continue my process of creating my sculpture on the wheel, (after seeing how well I could create such a large, smooth pot, just by using my hands without the wheel), I was able to enhance the smoothness of my pot, & use the wheel to my advantage to create a spout for my teapot, (in which, surprisingly, I was able to create a spout on my first try). My lid also came out decent, although a few cracks formed from an unknown cause I had left my lid to sit & harden. Overall, I think that I was extremely successful in the creation of my sculpture vessel, as I was able to create a large, functional, unique teapot, on my first experience with clay & sculpting. If I were to restart the creation of this teapot at this current time, I know that my final piece would appear extremely different from the pot's appearance currently, as I would have been able to add more details on the pot with clay, as I my shoulder has now healed from an injury that I acquired outside of school (from figure skating), which prohibited myself from continuing to work on adding details to my teapot with clay, as I had to take a break from this process (as I could not work on the wheel with my shoulder injury), which resulted in my teapot being too dry in order to add any further embellishments with the clay, once my arm had healed & I was able to continue the process of creating my finalized teapot.
